2006 - AFL - Longwood 0-11, Kilbride 0-08
Kilbride played Longwood under lights last Thursday for the
right to stay in division 3 of the A Leagues. Kilbride only played
in fits and starts in this match and while Longwood did not dominate
general play, they did look much more dangerous when attacking.
Kilbride started well with points from David Harford and Finbarr
Clarke but a bad night from the placed ball was to haunt Kilbride
and Longwood fought back to lead by 2 points at half time. The
second half was a frustrating affair for Kilbride as they tried
hard to get back into the game but could not rack up the necessary
scores. Fine points from Joe Barron, Craig Sheridan and sub Kevin
Quinn kept them in touch. Kilbride's defence coped well with
a very fast Longwood forward line who were irresistable when
breaking up the field. As Kilbride tried urgently to get level,
there were a lot of frees conceded by Longwood who were not unhappy
when the game slowed down. This and other decisions by the ref
enraged the Kilbride players and frustration set in with 2 Kilbride
players seeing red before the end.
So it's division 4 for 2007 for Kilbride but having escaped
the division a year ago, they will know what has to be done.
Also Eamonn Clarke ( and selectors Patsy Farrell and Jason Sheehy
) signed off as manager after a two year term in which a lot
of good work was done and progress made.

2006 - JFC - Kilbride 1-04, Drumbaragh 1-11
Kilbride's bid to get to the quarter finals of the championship
for the first time in 17 years came off the rails in Kilmessan
today. In truth Kilbride never clicked into any kind of gear
and will be disapointed not to have played anywhere near their
potential and at least troubled an energetic Drumbaragh side.
Drumbaragh made a lively start and could have been 10 points
up after 10 minutes only for some woeful wides, the woodwork,
a timely block from David Barron and a great Emmett Farrell save.
The Kilbride backs were under siege and eventually Drumbaragh
converted a goal chance to ease ahead. Kilbride levelled somewhat
fortuitously with a Brian White Free and a long Ollie Nolan punt
which was fisted to the net by Andy Rennicks. At the break Drumbaragh held
a lead of 2 points which left Kilbride still in contention.
Drumbaragh picked up where they had left off after half time,
only now they were turning their approach play into scores and
starting to pull away from Kilbride. The Drumbaragh no. 8 ( Smith
) started to point from everywhere in a fine display. Kilbride
were unable to get going at all and put scores on the board.
Kilbride just did not manage to pickup any breaks from Midfield
and Drumbaragh then had much more possession. Emmett Farrell
made more great saves and Andy Rennicks fought very hard to win
back midfield but it was not to be in a very disapointing end
to the 2006 JFC.
Also, Ronan McKiernan played his last match for Kilbride before
moving to Sligo for work. Ronan gave some fine years of service
to Kilbride and corner forwards in the county can feel a bit
safer ( literally ) for next year. Best of Luck to Ronan.

2006 - JFC - Kilbride 1-15, Bective 0-2
It was was a do or die occassion for Kilbride junior footballers
in Dunsaughlin on Saturday evening. And, despite a few nervous
moments in the first half resulting in some tremendous saves
from shot stopper Emmett Farrell it was all in all a very impressive
display from the men in Green and Red.
While Bective concentrated their effort on goal scoring an efficient
Kilbride forward line picked off their points at every opportunity
with some notable scores from Brian White and Andrew Rennicks.
The opposition concentrated their attacks on ball carrying and
a running game all of which were foiled by a solid defensive
display by Kilbride backs and some bone rattling hits from
John Bruton and Conor Rennicks.
Bective went in at half time a rattled team and the first ten
minutes of the second half saw no change in form. Kilbride started
the second half as they finished the first, in attack mode.
With inspired ball winning from Ollie Nolan and Finbarr Clark,
couple with devastating runs from John Bruton and Andy Rennicks
there was no way this Kilbride team was going to leave the pitch
as losers. Late runs from Joe Barron, and quality scores from
the White Brothers among others lead to a convincing win and
a step towords the Championship Quarter-Finals for an improving
Kilbride side.

2006 - Kilbride 1-06 , St. Ultans 3-12
Kilbride came up against a St. Ultans side that are on top form
in this division 3 league encounter. Kilbride never really settled
but managed to hang in there until the last few minutes when
St. Ultans put on some breakaway scores.
A win is a must in the last league match against Longwood to
ensure division 3 status for 2007.

2006 - Kilbride 4-11 , Simonstown 2-07
Kilbride posted their highest score in many years in this jfc
win over Simonstown at Dunshaughlin. Kilbride started brightly
but were pegged back by two sucker punch goals in a high scoring
match. Kilbride were in goal scoring mood also with Brian White
(2), Dermot White and David Harford finding the back of the onion
sack.
In a match for the neutrals the second half saw Kilbride pull
away with strong performances by Conor Rennicks, John Bruton
and Finbar Clarke.

2006 - Kilbride 1-06 , Rathkenny 1-09
A defeat was cruel on a brave Kilbride side last Tuesday night
in Rathkenny. This was a good hard contest between two competitive
teams who both came up from Division 4 last year. Spectators
at this match will have found it hard to understand the distance
between these sides in the league table with Rathkenny leading
the way and Kilbride starting to worry about possible relegation.
Kilbride were out of the blocks quick and were 2 points up before
Rathkenny hit three on the belt to go 3-2 up. Kilbride had many
good moves but all to often did not get the scores they deserved.
Rathkenny were much more clinical in front of the posts and went
in 6-3 ahead in at the break.
After the interval, Kilbride had a great spell, playing some
great football but emerged with very little from 5-10 minutes
of dominance. A David Harford "45 and a Craig Sheridan fisted
goal edged them ahead but Rathkenny then notched 4 points straight.
Overall Kilbride played very well, played for each other, tackled
hard but just did not get enough scores at the right times to
beat a good Rathkenny side who have good mixture of youth and
experience that is helping them to come out on top in tight games.
2 games left to save division 3 status.

2006 - Kilbride 0-10 , Drumree 0-06
Despite two losses from their first two outings in the championship,
Kilbride are now sucking diesel with three wins on the belt.
As before, the team had a different shape with many players in
strange positions. Tactician maestro Eamonn Clarke got the blend
right on this occasion as the team had a good balance.
Kilbride were 8 points to 1 up at half time after a very impressive
first half showing. The Kilbride midfield of John Bruton and
Ollie Nolan were dominant with the half backs and half forwards
very alert to the breaks. John Smith was very solid while Conor
Rennicks kept the Drumree dangerman relatively quiet.
Kilbride should have closed out the game but to their credit,
Drumree kept plugging away and never gave up. Kilbride put in
a lot of effort to hold on to victory, including a great Finbar
Clarke block on the line near the end, although more scores in
the second half could have made for a more comfortable win.

2006 - Kilbride 1-07 , Gael Colmcille
3-12
Kilbride had a bad day at the office against a solid Gael Colmcille
outfit which leaves them dangerously close to the bottom of division
3. The first half was played at a high standard, with both teams
giving it all on a warm evening. Gael Colmcille went in at the
break one point to the good, despite a very good Kilbride performance
in the first half.
Kilbride simply did not come out in the second half and were
hit by a sucker punch of two early second half goals which they
never recovered from. Midway through the second half, Kilbride
were trailing by 8 points and never got close enough to threaten
the Kells outfit who were worth the two points on offer..

2006 - Kilbride 1-08 , Donaghmore-Ashbourne
1-10
Kilbride came up slightly short in this local derby against
Donaghmore-Ashbourne. Donaghmore started brightly and had 1-1
on the scoreboard after only 5 minutes. However Kilbride settled
and scored 1-6 without reply courtesy of points from Cormac Holland,
David Harford, Dermot White, Brian White and a goal from Andy
Rennicks. O Nolan was lording it at midfield and David Harford
was having a ding dong battle with his marker. At the break Kilbride
had done well to turn a 4 point deficit into a 4 point lead.
Donaghmore must have had some class of a "hairdryer" halftime
teamtalk, because they upped their game considerably in the second
half and clawed back the lead. Kilbride responded with some great
determination in the second half, but ultimately did not register
enough scores in the second half to compete. Donaghmore showed
some great forward play and just looked more likely to convert
pressure into scores.
Interesting report from Donaghmore on the Don-Ash website about
their tussle with Kilbride : "Although we were missing a few
players through injury and the normal line out was somewhat different
we seem to make life very difficult for ourselves by letting
teams of a lower standard bring us down a level
or two in these games."

2006 - Kilbride 0-13 , Moynalvey 0-09
Kilbride enjoyed a well earned 2 points in the league with this
win over Moynalvey. The Kilbride rearguard marshalled by Conor
Rennicks held firm to lay the platform for this win. John Smith
launched many attacks from his wing and kept his man busy. Kilbride
were 4 points ahead at half time.
Moynalvey rallied in the second half but stout defending limited
their scoring. At the other end, Craig Sheridan scored some nice
points from play, Cormac Holland fisted over after a determined
run and David Harford scored a long range free to close out the
game and complete a satisfactory week for Kilbride báinisteoir
Eamonn Clarke.

2006 - Kilbride 1-12 , Skyrne 1-06
Kilbride produced a professional performance to see off a below

David Harford and Brian White widened the gap.
Despite a late

2006 - Kilbride 0-09 Slane 3-09
Two goals before half time effectively killed off Kilbride's
hopes in this game, played on a gloriously sunny evening in Slane.
Until then, Kilbride had troubled the Slane full back line with
Robbie Rooney and David Harford winning some fine high ball.
After a brief revival in the second half, Slane took over and
played some flowing football and finished the game with a little
bit to spare.

2006 - Kilbride 1-06 Meath Hill 0-10
Kilbride fell to their second loss in this years championship
on a hot day in Senechalstown today by a single point. After
a scrappy first 10 minutes, Meath Hill found their stride and
dominated the rest of the first half. Points from Finbar Clarke,
Dermot White and David Harford kept Kilbride's hopes alive, but
at the break a scoreline of Meath Hill 7 points and Kilbride
4 points, slightly flattered the men in Green and Red.
After the interval, Meath Hill kept the foot on the gas, and
to be fair they played as a team and worked their way up the
pitch quite well. Indeed if they were more clinical they could
have been home and hosed with 20 minutes to go. The score was
9 to 4 with about 15 minutes left. However, something
clicked in the Kilbride team and suddenly they started to play
with an intensity and passion that the Munster front row would
have been proud of. This was triggered by an opportunist goal
by David Harford, who caught everyone by suprise, including the
Meath Hill backs by taking a quick free and blasting to the back
of the net.
Suddenly the Kilbride team was invigorated with aggression and
energy. Full back Conor Rennicks led the way with some tough
defending, ably assisted by Ronan McKiernan. Andy Rennicks put
in some "big hits" while giving a running commentary to his marker,
and John Bruton started to lord it at midfield. From 1 - 15,
there was a huge effort put in to get back into the game, but
unfortunately Kilbride just ran out of time and could have done
with a couple more minutes.
Meath Hill were the better team for a lot of the match, but
will still be relieved to get the win which positions them nicely
in the group.

2006 - Kilbride 0-07 Moylagh 0-13
Yet again, Kilbride lose the first match of the championship
and are under pressure straight away. Moylagh started like a
train and were two points to the good after only 2 minutes play.
Kilbride had an Indian Sign over Moylagh in recent seasons, but
it had to end sometime and Moylagh looked more determined from
the start. Kilbride did settle into a rhythm and were soon back
into the match after fine points from Joe Barron and Dermot White
who was giving the full back a torrid time. The halftime score
was 06 to 05 for Moylagh, so Kilbride were still in with a shout.
However, Moylagh played a strong second half and ran out deserving
winners.

2006 - Kilbride 3-06 Nobber 0-11
Kilbride came into this game on the back of a bad defeat to
Ballinabrackey and needed a good performance to take into the
upcoming championship opener. Kilbride supremo Eamonn Clarke's
tactical expertise was missing from the sideline. In a repeat
of the match against Ballinlough, Kilbride hit the front, were
pegged back and then finished strongly. On this occasion however,
Kilbride got the win they deserved and will hopefully now move
up the table. Two goals in the first half from David Harford
and Dermot White gave Kilbride a 2-04 to 0-06 points at the break.
Nobber then started to pick up the breaks around midfield and
registered 4 points to level the game. The game was finely balanced
midway through the second half and the tackling was hard. Kilbride
reacted well, with Conor Rennicks and Ronan McKiernan very tight
on their men. John Bruton was a very effective ball carrier and
it was one of his passes that led to the ball dropping
in around the square, from where David Harford passed to Dermot
White who squeezed the ball home. A point each from Brian White
and John Bruton then pushed Kilbride 5 points ahead before Nobber
got a last minute point which still left them 4 points behind
at the end.

2006 - Kilbride 0-03 Ballinabrackey 2-05
In windy
conditions, Kilbride were overwhelmed by a slick Ballinabrackey
outfit today. The Offaly border team started at a fast pace
and never really let up. Kilbride never really looked like
winning this game, although they were still in with a shout
until a late goal from Ballinabrackey ended this contest. Ballinabrackey
started like a train, with the Kilbride backs really digging
in to put the Ballinabrackey forwards under pressure and limiting
the damage. Ronan McKiernan made some timely interceptions
in his own individual style, Robbie Bruton played the percentages
well and Conor Rennicks saw off a bruiser of a full forward.
Kilbride were having difficulty in getting the ball up the
hill to their
forwards
and the pressure
told
just
before half time as a slick move ended in a
goal after a fine Emmet Farrell save rebounded to a Ballinabrackey
forward who rattled the onion sack. Kilbride went into the
break scoreless to Ballinabrackey's 1-02.
Kilbride
gave a much improved effort in the second half but unfortunately
could not convert effort into scores on the board and Ballinabrackey
pulled clear in the final few minutes. Brian White converted
three difficult placed balls, but tellingly Kilbride did not
get a score from play in the entire match.

19th February
2006 - Kilbride 1-08 Ballinlough 2-05
Kilbride
started well in a match played in decent conditions for football.
Ballinlough were Kilbride's first senior opposition in many years and it was
obvious after a few minutes that Ballinlough were looking to
play a fast brand of football. After Ballinlough's opening
point, Kilbride dug in and registered some fine points through
Ollie Nolan, Finbarr Clarke, Dermot White and John Bruton.
Unfortunately, just when Kilbride were in the ascendency, Ballinlough
hit
two quick fire goals to go in 5 points ahead at the break.
Facing into
the wind, Kilbride seemed to be facing an uphill battle
but through great determination, managed to claw their way
back into the game. The Kilbride backs tightened up considerably,
setting up a very solid platform for the midfield to build
on. John Smith and Paddy O'Neill were very industrious at the
back, with John Bruton exerting a fair influence at Midfield.
Veteran Robbie Rooney came on to forge a 70+ partnership with
Dermot White in the Full forward line. This seemed to unsettle
the Ballinlough defence who started to feel the pressure. This
pressure eventually told with points from Brian White, Dermot
White and a well worked goal from David Harford. Deservedly,
Robbie Rooney pointed to level the game as just reward for
a spirited Kilbride team. Kilbride will take great heart from
this result, but also will have to take note of the raised
standard in this Division. Team :
